Giving

Refund policy.

When a gift can be refunded, how to ask, and what it means for your tax receipt.

Our approach

Gifts to The Giant Education Foundation go to work quickly — tuition assistance, faith formation, and the campus St. Gerald students learn in. We also know that mistakes happen and circumstances change. This page explains when a gift can be refunded and how to ask. It covers one-time gifts, recurring gifts, gala tickets, and sponsorships.

One-time gifts

We will consider a refund request on any one-time gift made within the previous 30 days. Requests are reviewed individually. Most involve a mistyped amount, a duplicate charge, or a gift made in error, and we resolve those readily. After 30 days a gift is normally final, because the funds are already committed to the families and programs they were given for — but if something has gone wrong outside that window, write to us anyway.

Recurring gifts

You can cancel a recurring gift at any time by emailing info@tgefoundation.org. Please send your request at least 3 business days before your next scheduled charge so we can stop it in time.

Cancelling stops all future charges. It does not refund a payment that has already been processed — that gift stays at work. If a payment has just gone through in error, the 30-day terms above apply to it.

Gala tickets

Gala tickets are refundable in full up to 30 days before the event. Within 30 days of the event they are non-refundable: by that point we have committed to the venue and catering based on the expected count.

Tickets may be transferred to another guest at any time, including after the refund cutoff — just email us the new guest’s name. If you cannot attend and choose not to transfer your ticket, its value remains a donation to the foundation, and we are grateful for it.

Sponsorships

Sponsorship commitments follow the 30-day terms above until your name or logo goes to print. Once recognition materials — programs, signage, banners — are sent to the printer, the sponsorship is non-refundable, because the cost has already been incurred on your behalf. We tell every sponsor the print deadline when the sponsorship is confirmed, so that date is never a surprise.

How to request a refund

Email info@tgefoundation.org with your name, the approximate date and amount of the gift, and the email address you used when giving. We respond to every refund request within 5 business days.

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Depending on your bank, it can take a few additional days for the credit to appear on your statement.

Refunds and your tax receipt

A refunded gift is no longer a charitable contribution, so its tax receipt is no longer valid. When we process a refund we send you a written correction for your records, and the original acknowledgment should not be used to claim a deduction. If you have already filed, please speak with your tax advisor.
